Australian Broadcasting Corporation reporter, Peter Lloyd, has agreed to plead guilty to some of the drugs charges he faces in Singapore.

In return, the authorities have agreed to drop the most serious charge of drug trafficking, which carried a possible jail term of 20 years.

Mr Lloyd's lawyer says the former correspondent is remorseful about the other charges, which include consumption of an illegal drug and possession of drug utensils.

The 41-year-old was arrested in July for allegedly possessing point 0.4 grams of ice.

His sentencing hearing is scheduled for December 2
