The Central Penitentiary Hospital I was opened in order to offer a maximum complexity medical assistance to the federal prisoners of the capital federal and the Buenos Aires province.

The mission of the hospital, incorporated to the Federal Penitentiary Complex (FPC) of Ezeiza city, is ambitious: the assistance of the prisoners and avoid taking them to external medical centers.

The opening of the hospital

The integral assistance of the federal prisoners in a high security prison is an old aspiration of the Federal Penitentiary Service, which eliminates the risks of moving the risky prisoners to national and provincial hospitals.

Even if you are blindfolded, you would realize that you are entering to the hospital, the central heating and the music are the things that surprise the visitors.

One thousand and six hundred prisoners of the Federal Penitentiary Complex I are assisted in the hospital and when the hospital will be able to assist with all its facilities finished, the prisoners will have surgeries and will be able to stay in hospital, this means a 60% of the Federal Penitentiary Service: almost 6,000 prisoners from the prisons of the Federal Capital and Ezeiza and Marcos Paz city.

According to the national ministry authorities, the second stage of the same segment will consist on the opening of the hospitalization sectors in order that, in the final stage the hospital would reach the maximum level of complexity with a capacity of 120 places, the chief of the module of the hospital of CPI, "alcaide" Gabriel Aquino were also there, and so did the new medical director, "subalcaide" physician Raul Yaob.

There is an interaction with groups of both Ministeries, Justice and Human Rights and Health and Social Matters, that signed a contract with 23 professionals from the national hospital "Doctor Gervasio Posadas", and 3 physicians from the FPS and 10 nurses.

The main purpose

The main purpose of the Central Penitentiary Hospital I of Ezeiza is to offer services of maximum complexity, in order to avoid, only in exceptions, the moving of the prisoners to external hospitals.

The moving of a prisoner implies a determining factor regarding the work in a prison and also expensive for the taxpayers: four guards per day -two per 12 hours shift - they must be taken away from the work that they carry out in prison as they are in charge of the custody of the prisoners who are in external hospitals.
