The experiences of foreign prisoners are many & varied. Following are some real life stories & also some books & films written by or about foreign prisoners & their experiences in the prison system. Some of these experiences are brutal, some speak of hope in the face of adversity, all of them speak of human rights abuses which must be changed.

Note: The F.P.S.S in some cases is unable to verify the authenticity the stories below. In most cases we have taken all effort to verify the material before publishing, however in cases where the experiences have been based on recollections of individuals we can only assure ourselves of the intent of the material.   • Freedom has come at last to Andrew Mallard! In a surprise move, one week out from the directions hearing to determine if Andrew was to go to a re-trial - the DPP has formally dropped the murder charges against Andrew. He was released from Casuarina Maximum Security Prison in Western Australia at 6.20pm on 20 February 2006. Just short of 12 years of unjust imprisonment has come to an end.

  • First They Killed My Father
    Subtitled: A daughter of Cambodia remembers

  • Traumland Alptraum - Im Namen Allahs (Translated means: Dreamland Nightmare - In the Name of Allah) - The book tells a true story about a German citizen who got arrested in Abu Dhabi. As his employer a Sheikh from the Muktoum Clan Dubai - leaves a sum of nearly 80 Mio.$ unpaid and all office employees were arrested. That was just the beginning of the nightmare. The documentary filmmaker and author tells not only his own story but presents a lot of other human rights violation of other prisoners in the UAE, as well as pointing his finger at the man behind all the suffering in the jails. Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan , his father is the President of the UAE, is guilty, so the author says, of keeping many prisoners are in the dark as well as being fully responsible of the torture in the C.I.D. jail. Unfortunately the book is not translated yet into English.
